Every Friday, Bristol Food Union rounds up available jobs in food, farming and hospitality, and shares them with budding job hunters looking for work.
We are currently experiencing a severe skills crisis in the industry, and experienced chefs or front of house staff are hard to come by. If you have skills and would like to talk about available placement with some of Bristol’s best food businesses, please get in touch.
We aim to share jobs from across the Bristol food movement. We focus on ethical employers, concerned with sustainable food, drink, farming or community activism, in or close to Bristol.

Chef and cooking Jobs
Hummusapiens – Chef – £24,000 a year – We at Hummusapiens are looking for a second Chef to join our small team. We are based out of The Old Bookshop, North Street, Bristol, BS3 and create big taste, plant based food, served alongside the Bookshop’s extensive European beer selection.
What we can offer you: Full time, approx 30-40 hours a week once trained up. A mixture of prep days, evenings, splits and weekend work. No early mornings. Shift patterns across 4-5 days. A fun, fast paced kitchen atmosphere with a small passionate team. You will be working with the founder of the business and supervising a small team of Kitchen Assistants/Waiting Staff. Munio – Head Chef – £55k pa – We are looking for a talented Head Chef to take the reigns at Muiño, Bristol’s best rated Tapas Restaurant and have a unique offer for the right candidate. We will offer a generous salary in addition to up to 20% of the business profit, quarterly. The business has been performing well and turning over significant profit for the last 12 months and there is scope to improve this further. Current takehome would be around 50k but with a couple of tweaks this could be considerably more). The kitchen runs with 3 full time chefs (Head, Sous & CDP) and 2 kps and opening hours are Mon – Saturday evenings and Saturday lunch (we would like to add Thursday & Friday lunches aswell). We pride ourselves on our friendly teams both FOH & BOH and the work not really feeling too much like work. Hours would be around 45 per week with every Sunday & 2 other days off. Hoba Kebab – £10 an hour – We are looking for passionate and fun people to join our fab team. We want to hear from people who are focused, fun and an expert at creating good vibes. Experience isn’t essential (but a big kebab shaped hole in your heart is) The role is for 40 hours a week, never any more. The Blaise Inn – Chef – £10 per hour, 40 hours, days/evenings/weekends. Looking for someone with genuine passion for food, who wants to cook all menu items from fresh. Beerd – Pizza Chefs – £11 – £13ph – Beerd is an independent craft beer & pizza bar. We are busy like all kitchens at the moment and are looking to recruit experienced pizziolas and chefs into our team. What makes our vacancies different to the rest? All contracts are agreed between employer & employee, no zero hours and always flexible on your circumstances. You have a life and we want you to have the right balance. Staff were furloughed and had their welfare checked on throughout lock downs. Kitchen team were almost immediately brought back to work in a covid safe environment and had protected employment on agreed terms. The Burger Joint Bedminster – Waiting Staff – £8.91 an hour – We are looking for new staff to join our waiting team at The Burger Joint in Bedminster (both full and part time). We are one of the original burger restaurants selling a wide range of the best burgers in the city. The main roles of the job are: serving customers, (with enthusiasm and a smile), putting orders through the till, making drinks (everyone takes turns to work behind the bar), cleaning and generally contributing to ensuring we have a well run operation. The hours of the job are anywhere between 10-35 a week depending on what you are looking for. You will be required to work weekends. Our rotas change weekly and we try to be as flexible as possible. Beyond the Bean – Food Production Operative – £18,600 – £19,750 a year – This is an entry level production role on the shop floor of a small food manufacturing site that makes flavoured beverage syrups of coffee drinks, soft drinks and cocktails. Reporting to a Shift Leader on a daily basis and to the Factory Manager overall, this role involves the safe and effective handling of food ingredients and packaging as well as the operation of manufacturing and cleaning equipment.
